What happened to using the stethascope? You are still just replacing parts. You have to first isolate the problem then buy your parts. Do you have a HF i see it listed for 3.99$.

Re: 3.7 slight tick

Like a said up earlier in this thread. I am going after my flapper also. I have twins and did the port already. It had one broken bolt in there when i got the boat. Had to drill it out and place a nut and a bolt in its place. On the starboard i am doing this weekend i think i will Smack the nuts with a hammer. Spray them with releasing agent and let them sit overnight and tomorrow run the motor and let it get warm before i try to break these bolts loose. (and try not to get burned in the process) I sure as hell dont want to break any. Mine are salt water though, not sure what yours are. Just an fyi.

You will feel much better when you hear the ticking coming from the elbow. I am pretty sure thats what you have though. I just wanted you to get used to isolating the issue before you purchase parts. Nice looking rig in the picture. What did you say it is? Looks a little like my Tiara.

Hi, It is an 87 Larson Delta Conic 190 with the infamous 3.7 mercruiser in it. This is my very first vessel I purchased. I kinda felt like I got taken on it though. The idiot that I bought it from started it right up, I checked the oil and all the other fluids....Everything was great, well...so I thought. The first trip out in the middle of the lake, AFTER I had paid for it, and the thing over heated due to them front seals on the cam shaft going bad. You know how when they are bad theres supposed to be that little passage for the antifreeze to flow out of.....Well.....the idiot plugged it with silicone and BAM.....warped the block....SO I decided to start off fresh and purchased a blueprinted mercruiser motor from tide water engine......
I thing since ive owned her I pretty much have replaced most everything on her, including installing some Bennett trim tabs....Now. I am going to be in the market for a bigger vessel within the next year, time to go bigger.....

Is there a trick to getting both valves in the other cylinders closed. I know that once you get #1 cylinder to TDC then that's when both the intake and exhaust valves are closed, but in order to do the leak down test on the other cylinders I need to be able to get both valves closed> Any suggestions?
