3 hp Yamaha 2 stroke

I bought this at an auction. It looks great. It has been cleaned up inside and out. The fuel tank has been emptied and new fuel added. The fuel lines are not clogged. I removed the carb and cleaned with carb cleaner, the spark plug is firing but it still only starts and runs for a few seconds and dies. I then cut off the gas and let it stand for two or three mnutes, then turn on the gas, choke it and it starts for a few seconds and then dies.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum ..... do you have enough ventilation at the tank? try adjusting the air/fuel mix ... setting should be 1 1/2 full turns outwards from soft stop ....
