I have an old three wire trim motor that utilizes two solenoids. The replacment motor available is a two wire unit that does away with the solenoids and uses relays. The model number of the new motor is PT 495NK-2 and it comes with the relays.

My questions are: has anyone out there ever made this conversion? Is it difficult? Did the motor come with good instructions? Where did you mount the relays?

The motor is a 1995, Mariner 115 hp. Single ram tilt unit.

Why not go to ARCO and get the right motor, if you have the other one coming it should not be much of a job to rewire it once we know what you have for wires, if there are not good instructions and there should be to relive them from lawsuits

That was my origianl plan but all indications are that the 2 wire conversion is the only way to go (even through ARCO). Besides, the two wire claims to offer more power with less current draw. I don't have it on order yet. I am just inquiring if anyone has made the conversion and if so did it go pretty smoothly.
