Well thanks to some good information i found here we had a nice weekend at the lake.
So im saying thanks folks.
A few observations while on the water, motor was sitting to low on the transom.
I quickly put the trim pin in the furthest hole out and it helped a bit but she still disturbed a lot of water.
Motor started easily and ran awesome all the time.
I didn't torture it but did try her out a bit and my cousin on his tigershark was not amused that I could keep up to him. In his defence his machine has many more hours on it than mine and im sure its tired.
My little Sunray is a 1982 but the motor is quite a bit older I think.
Model is 304BA and serial is 1902 .These numbers are a little difficult to read but Im pretty sure they are correct. Has points ignition so I beleive early 70s.
Since getting home I have lifted the motor 1 1/2 inches. Its still a bit low by about a half inch, however the wingnuts wont have any grab if i go higher.
My prop is original i would say and the motor didnt seem to get to the 5500 or so rpm.
I didnt even think to check it with my tiny tach.
the prop is a 10 3/8 by 11 1/2.
With the motor up where it should be it will run closer to its 5500 I think.
Didnt use it a lot, still learning the lake but very impressed with its only using about 2 or 3 gallons of fuel. I would say it gets better than an hour on a gallon.

Re: 30 chrysler, A few questions

Its a 1975.....most important mod you can make is a tell tail for the water ..there is a plug in the top of the cylinder ...remove and fit adaptor and small pipe so you can see the squirt when you are running. The one I have runs a 10 3/8 x 13 1/2 prop but it depends on the weight of your boat . The anti ventilation plate above the prop should be level with the bottom of the hull and level or tucked under a little ...if it goes nose high when you take off then tuck it under more ....
