302 front motor mounts

The usual volley of web searches has been less than fruitful finding what I need.
I'm converting an OMC 190 / Ford 302 from I/O to inboard. (not to worry, I junked the remains of the old boat.... this is for a properly designed inboard I will build) I need to ditch the select trim front motor mounts and replace them with inboard mounts.

Any suggestions on where I might locate such a product? Any place to scrounge by telephone that is not online?

Alternately, am I just going to have to hire my machine shop owner buddy to fabricate one?

Thanks for the feedback!

Re: 302 front motor mounts

If he's got an old OMC motor, those have those funny electric screw jack mounts. I think he's after the standard lag bolt type. Mercruiser used some 302's in the 70s, they might be the mount you're after. Failing that, in the mid to late 90s, you could get some Volvo boats with a Ford engine, and OMC also used the 302 with the Cobra drive. All of those should be the regular lag bolt type mounts.

He does not want the screw type. He wants the fixed front mount brackets and feet. These were for units without the optional tilt. You can see the two pieces in this pic.

Keep an eye out on ebay for them or try to find a boat salvage yard.

Re: 302 front motor mounts

Thanks for the insight folks. I have seen the Mercruiser options on e-bay, but am not inclined to buy through that source for various reasons. I am curious if they will work on the OMC block.

Yes, my engine has the selectrim mounts. The ones that WizeOne illustrates with the picture (mighty fine specimen there!) are a possibility. I do think, thought, that If I use those mounts I will have to build an adjustable bracket to mount between them and the stringers. I will need to adjust engine location to get proper alignment between the transmission and the prop shaft.

Again, thoughts and commentary appreciated.

No doubt they will work. There is no difference between an OMC Ford block and Mercruiser Ford block. The respective brand brackets are made to match existing threaded holes in the block.

The Mercs would give you a little bit of adjustment as well. The OMC's can be shimmed but not as easy as turning a nut.

Re: 302 front motor mounts

Actually just found a vendor that sells the mounts used by PCM on the 302 and 351 inboard ski-boat engines. Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks again for the feedback!
