JK, a 331 is not radical. It's just a longer stroke 302. Longer stroke ='s higher torque, right where you need it. That's exactly what you want in a boat motor.<br /> <br />What you don't want to do is build a high compression, high reving 302. For a 302 to develop above 230 hp, you have to move the torque band up into the higher rpm ranges where you cannot use it. Then the boat performs miserably at the speeds you want your power. <br /><br />The other nice thing about a stroked 302 is that you retain the weight and dimensions of the 302 compared to the extra height, width and weight of a 351. Just some thoughts.
