I am looking at swapping out a pre 86 2 piece rear seal block for a newer one with the one piece design and reusing the old style crankshaft in the newer block so that I can reuse my original flywheel and coupler. Is this possible or will I run into problems?

There is also DIY kit available to convert a pre 86 block for use with stock chevy roller gear. Some grinding and drilling required. Any opinions on this method?

Today I purchased a set of 305 vortec heads from a 96-99 truck. $275 cdn delivered.
I want to run my stock 2bbl carb but the only vortec manifolds I could find are 4bbl aftermarket ones.
Should I try running with a 2 to 4 adapter or hunt down the proper marine chevy manifold.
My local auto wrecker told me that chevy didn't make carburetor manifolds for the new vortec heads.
Anyone know where I might find one?

Nope,........ It Ain't gonna Happen..........

Either Find a 2bbl. Manifold, or buy a 4bbl.....

Re: 305 block swap

I don't think the cranks will swap.

I wouldn't waste time and money on the roller, but you know my opinion there ;)

Why buy vortecs and strangle it with your 2brl? The 2brl will need rejetting anyway. The Edelbrock 1409 is only around $300, and easy to tune.
