Over 25 years of boating and finally got my money’s worth for my Towboat us membership!

Does anyone have experience with exhaust manifold thermostats? Mine blew its top so to speak and sprayed water everywhere in the engine compartment. I have ordered the new part and it’s easy to change out just wondering if it’s just a failed part or if I should be looking at something down stream?

It’s the volvo Penta 320 hp motor. The motor model says 320 A-C.

Still confused, they made at least 12 320 hp motors.
A year or model would help.
I have a friend in Wa. that I send odd questions to.
He won't help unless I have the model

Guessing this is a V8-320-C-A
Yours isn’t a common failure (they usually plug up internally with debris) there isn’t a lot of places down stream to plug up. I’m guessing this was just a bad weld on the top cover. If you rip the cover off the rest of the way, you might be able to see if there is a difference between between the surface that’s open now and what you see were you ripped the rest loose.

Yes that is the motor. I’m hoping that your right on a bad weld. I’m overthinking it in my head and worried about something else! I get the new part tomorrow, hopefully, can get to the boat to,change it tomorrow.
