So I have a 1971 60 hp evinrude and the fuel pump has the numbers 328781 d6 on the back of it.
I bought a kit OMC part number 393103..

But it doesn't fit? The gaskets and diaphragm are all too short.

Any idea what this fuel pump really goes on or the correct kit to replace the gaskets and diaphragm?

Is that the right fuel pump for my engine?

The number of 328781 is just a casting number, not a part number.

The 1971 60hp original fuel pump part number was 383765 but was superseded up thru number 433390 to its final and present part number of 438559. I don't know if a kit is available for this pump or not.

The price back in 1999 was $41.90. The last price on it that I saw was $99.97 and that was in 2010. Hopefully a kit is available.

I don't think this pump is the right one. The gaskets and stuff on mine look like this one --

9.9, 15 HP mid-1987 - 1992 Electric Start

But the kit I bought, the gaskets look like this one..
55-75 HP 1969-83

So you think maybe someone put a different pump on mine?

Yes, the pump has been changed. But no matter, just use the kit that fits. Don't get all hung up on the horsepower thing. If it fits, use it.

So the 15 hp fuel pump really won't make a difference when it should be a 60 hp fuel pump?

Would the 60 hp perform better than a 15 hp?
