Need to run your marine pan on that engine. I think it has a wind-age tray also. Match oil check tube to oil pan. Dose that engine have the pipe that goes across the back of the heads? If yes pull the tube and block with 5/8- 11 bolt not over 1 inch long I use 1/2 inch long While you are swapping the pan why not put the timing cover and cam eccentric on there and use a fuel pump? I am weary about electric fuel pumps in a marine application.

Thanks for the info on the fuel pump I really didnt want to go with electric anyway (not safe on a marine engine

They're just fine for marine use, but it just requires more wiring/return fuel line to make it work. Fuel injection requires the electronic unit in order to produce the fuel pressure needed. In any case, it's not worth it to overcomplicate a 70's boat.
