I have a 1988, Mercury 35hp that I just picked up. Looks like the choke plate covers the entire face of the carb. There's a spring on it of which one end is not hooked up. Can someone tell me where it goes?
That spring looks to be bent. If I remember correctly, on my IL6 with the same carbs, the small straight tip should go into the carb shutter, and the loop end should go around a screw which is missing, in the hole at the base of the throat. The screw also held on the plastic grating. See diagram
