I have a 2007 4.3 Merc with a 2bbl carb. I have been thinking a bit about swapping to a 4bbl intake.

I found a 4bbl Merc intake on Craigslist for $20 and snagged it w/ the carb. I got it home, tried to look up the part number and all I could find said "Manifold-Intake-4BBL-Non-Vortec".

I am assuming that my 2007 must be a Vortec 4.3, correct? If so, am I also correct in assuming that this will not work on my 2007 4.3 Merc?

Any help would be great.

BTW: The stamped GM part number on the intake is "14097293".

Thanks!

Well, it counted 12, so I guess this one won't fit my 2007 4.3... oh well... I guess it'll go on ebay or something.

Thanks!

Re: 4.3 Intake Manifold differences??

There is a thread from a while back detailing a few methods for this. (http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=277752) I have not attempted it yet, but might in a few years. Several have gone this route with good results. I just don't want it to mess up my hole shot, because most likely I would have to buy a higher pitch prop to keep from over-revving, which in turn would hurt the hole shot that I have now. The extra power is all mid-high rpm power.

You can do it with the GM cast-iron 4-barrel manifold and holley carb.

or the edelbrock aluminum manifold and carb listed in the first thread link.
