Well just bought my first bought a 2001 VIP 184 Aviva with a 4.3L V6 and Mercruiser Alpha Outdrive.
After the first 5 hours of running the boat I have a knock in the engine at 2,000 RPM. I limped back to the boat ramp at 1200 rpm with no knock but it sounds like a rod knock at 2,000 RPM.
Also had large amount of oil in water when I pulled the plug after trailering the boat. Always had oil in motor, never overheated.
Would I be better off pulling motor and rebuilding or buying a long block and going that route?
