40 hp merc seal location

I just had to replace the impeller on a 1995 merc 4 cyl. 40 hp that I just bought, The kit came with some splined seals and an o-ring seal that were nowhere to be found when I took the foot off. there were no seals other than the one that sets directly on top of the impeller housing. Kit came with two different sets of splined seals , I suppose for differene motor applications . Instructions show them at the top of shaft. what abou the o-ring?<br /> <br /> Thanks for any help

If the driveshaft has a groove near the top slines it uses the oringif not it uses the spined seal there should be a plactic spacer on the driveshaft if not ck in the mid section with a flashlite fot the peices
