I'm not a big Merc guy. However, the rectifier turns AC electrical current into DC current for charging the battery. It may very well be connected to the choke circuit.
thanks for info i do have a manuel it is a clymer a piece of ****, my 9 year old could make a book this good.
in manuel it has a wire from rectifier to choke
put new choke silinoid in
put radio shack rectifier in few minutes a go
If you have a push to choke switch then yes it could be in the switch. None of my manuals cover your motor so I'm not sure of the wiring color code. Some used gray and some yellow/black to the switch. You will have to check your manual to see what color wire goes from the choke to the switch. Then with the key on, push it in and you should have 12V on that wire. A quick check would be to listen at the motor for a click while some one pushes the key in.
Sorry, can't help you with that. Hopefully someone else can. The back of manuals usually have the controls in them. If you can figure out what they are telling you. LOL
