40 yamaha

Model C40PLRR, code 6E9 L, Serial# 331073, Electric start. Starts great, runs great for about 15 mins. Then cuts back to about half the rpm's until eventually a crawl, no alarms are signs of motor getting hot. Turn engine off for five minutes and run under full power again for about 15 minutes and repeat. Changed water pump and thermostat. Did not help. It was suggested that I change coil, power pack, and stator in that order until the problem is fixed. Is this the proper approach I should take?

I would call a dealer and find out what the compression is supposed to be and then run a compression test to make sure the rings aren't stuck. That will produce the symptoms you are seeing.<br /><br />John

2-stroke or 4-stroke? If 2-stroke, oil injection or pre-mix? Does pumping the fuel bulb have any effect. Does choking the engine during problem have any effect? Do you have spark on all cylinders during the problem? Don't replace items, test them. You need to get a manual.
