40HP West Bend Outboard

Noobie looking for help. I recently bought a 1958 Lonestar boat that has a 40HP west bend outboard motor. the motor starts up and all. im needing help on how to obtain parts for this old motor. I would like to rebuilt it if i can. Is there any manual on this motor? Any suggestion is appreciate.

Someone may be able to date the motor for you and give you a source for manuals/parts if you can post the model and serial number.

Chrysler bought the West Bend Company. Then they had to get rid of it during the bail-out deal with the government. After that it was called Force. Mercury was the last one to own the company, but they have discontinued it. So with all that background in mind, you have several directions to look for parts. A few parts are available right here from iboats. Laings outboards on-line is another good chance.
