Hello folks. I'm back with my too high oil pressure problem.
Ordered new oil pump/oil pressure valve assembly.
While setting new pump, found out a bypass release valve over oil filter fitting case.
Any clue about a bypass defect that could discharge directly into engine oil system ?
This will eliminate oil filter of the normal oil circuit , and eliminate oil filter flow effort, and could explain higher pressure.
Thank you, Paul.

Couldn't find a post where you ever said you had an oil pressure problem. I did notice in your other post that you rebuilt the engine.
It's possible you didn't get the oil holes in the cam bearings or main bearings lined up with the holes in the block. That would give you high pressure.

That valve is only there in case the oil filter becomes completely clogged AND to help bleed off pressure on cold starts so filter won't burst, will not cause high oil pressure. What was your pressure readings, and how did you test it?

Hello Don, thank you for your reply.
On rebuilt job , cam bearings had not been remplaced. After rebuild, engine worked great for 3 years with prefect oil pressure. High pressure appeared after a 5 months stop and an raced engine restarting. Did remove engine, remplaced oil pump and his integrated oil pressure release valve, then found out a bypass valve on top of oil filter primary chamber flow, installed inbetween direct oil pressure from pump before filter and internal piping after filter flow.
Did order AcDelco 25014006 bypass valve and will installe it as soon as recevied.
Thank you again, Paul.

Did it occur to you that the "raced" engine upon restart after 5-month of storage may have spun a bearing?

Like Silvertip said, racing a cold/sitting 5 mos. engine after startup is a sure way to spin a bearing or several.

Why ???? that valve does not control oil pressure, it only bypasses oil past the filter if the filter gets plugged up.

Hello Don.
Thank you again for your analyse.
After removed oil pan , installed new oil pump/release valve assy, and new oil filter overpressure valve, re-installed engine in boat, I restarted it.
Let it run on idle for 10 minutes to get oil warm.
Smooth running, no noise.
But oil pressure is now slightly higher than with old parts.
Ok, I am going to re-do the job again. I will remove engine and disassemble crankshaft caps and check bearings.
Thank you, Paul.
