5.0 GXI_F wiring alternator

My 2006 GXI-f alternator has a multi pin plug on the back that doesn't show up in any manual, dealer says it is not in theirs either. Anyone know what it is/goes to ?

More importantly, there is an orange wire coming out of the same plastic loom as this plug - with a crimp on splice connector, that's just hanging there, doesn't connect to anything.

Trying to figure out if it is supposed to be loose.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket alternator and somebody did some wiring on you. Who makes the alternator, whats the name on the back of it? It should be a Valeo, but whats yours?
