Gents, 2002 5.0 MPI is missing a cylinder(s). Noticed a gas smell out of exhaust and lower power than STbd engine, also needs a lot more throttle to maintain same RPMs as Stbd and only Max's out at 4200 rpm. I used some insulated spark plug pliers and pulled each wire individually at the distributor cap when it had a little load on it. I found that when I pulled the # 2 plug wire the engine actually sped up as if that NO 2 was dragging it down. I changed plug, checked wire, no visable breaks or cracks. I also looked to make sure all wires were going to the right cylinders. Any ideas.. Thanks in advance.

What did the plug look like when you removed it?
A compression test would be a good start

Plug was clean like it hadn't been firing. Will do a compression test this afternoon. Could timing be off?
