so i finaly got my boat on the water a few weeks ago and it ran kinda intermittently. i probably caused the problems i am having. there was some old gas in the tank and i thought by mixing in enough new gas and additive that it would be fine. well it wasnt. when it was out on the water it would stall, then run for a few, then stall. finally it kinda gave out on me and even at wot it would barely move, maybe 10-15mph. we then got it off the water as it would barely idle.
got the boat back home cleaned out the tank, put in premium, and a new fuel filter. she started right up and idles perfect now, but i have a slight knock. gets louder with rpms but not too loud. i dont think its a rod knock, atleast everytime ive heard a rod knock its been super loud. i believe it is coming from the valvetrain (i hope). it was knocking a little when it was on the lake, it started halfway through the day.
oil pressure is also concerning me. it may be because the gauges are old but it reads right around 0 psi at idle but shoots up to 40 psi when the motor is revved. there is oil in it too i have checked many times.
anyone have any ideas, i dont know too much about these old gm marine motors, but i am starting to learn. please help cause if its something simple i would like to get it back on the lake again this weekend.
