Hello, this is my second post after reading some stuff about engine temps on this engine model. On my first short trip and I guess the boats for for a few weeks the temp guage (once taped to get it to read) rose to around 170 and everthing seemed fine. As I slowed down to tick over the temp went close to 200 and then dropped off back to 170ish. I am not entirely trusting of the guage as I said it sometimes needs a tap to come to life. But I have read about impellors, water intakes, power steering coolers etc. and although I don't want to break anything I also don't want to start pulling things apart mid-season. Are there any websites that show how and where I can check water intakes and the other obvious things.

Oh two more pieces of info, I saw the water turn around with mufflers on and it all looked fine but water was coming from behind the sloping curved plastic cover. When I looked the small plastic pipe had come out of the pump housing(I think thats what it is), would this make any difference if it has popped out again which I suspect it has because the hole was distorted and can I glue it for more permanace. Thanks

that hose must be blocked, blow thru it that must be free. that is a air bleed do not plug it off! dont glue on if it blows off not a big deal. while you are there remove the 3 3/8 bolts the water pump is right there, check its condition. check pwr steer cooler for debris should be behind carb on bell housing or by stb motor mount pull the feed side off stick finger in or look in is it clean?
