5.7 vortec EFI water pump impeller

Hi could a worn out water pump impeller make engine run hot and put the computer in gardian mode. also what temp should my motor run at??Thanks

To answer your question, YES. <br />But if you have more questions, you might want to include Year, Make and Model of your engine. Not just 5.7 Vortec EFI. All EFI engines are Vortec and there is more than one type EFI.

Thats where it gets tricky it is a brand new 5.7 vortec 05 it has the TBI EFI the boat is a 97 f/w horizon 220 old motor went south boat guy said it was ok to upgrade from pre-vortec to vortec. Took boat out for first time with knew motor had to run at 3000rpm for 3rd hour after 3rd hour took it up to 4000rpm worked great just like old motor before going south. Parked for 2-3 hours went to leave would not go over 2000rpm all the way back temp was over 200 dg called guy that tuned boat said maybe motor being to hot that it went to gardian mode. Help

Some punctuation would help.<br />What is a "the boat is a 97 f/w horizon 220"<br />IS this new engine a Mercruiser, Volvo, Marine Power, or something else?<br />What drive is on the boat.<br />Got any Merc or Volvo serial numbers that may help with what engine you really have?????
