Re: 50 horse on 17' bowrider??

will the plastic fins help plane the boat ? (hydrofins?)
im not looking for speed just a working setup.
the motor has a 13 3/4 X 15 alluminum prop right know. i'm looking for 5000/5500 rpm. the anti cavitation plate is even with the bottem v of the boat.
i didnt have the boat in the water yet.
will it work?

thanks reeldutch.

reeldutch;

The boat should plane, but your best performance will be if you add Trim Tabs. A hydrofoil will not provide the extra lift that will be satisfactory. In this country we see most people going for MAX HP, but that is because the gas is cheap. In Europe most people will be satisfied with 50 HP on a 17ft boat because gas is 2.00 per Ltr. Do a Search on Trim Tabs and Smart Tabs.
