Hello everyone I am new to this site hope someone on here can help me. I just purchased a boat with a 1972 50 HP johnson it was supposed to run but I wount get into that here. when I try to start it the starter wont turn the motor but I took the starter off and took it apart and it seems fine to me I took the spark plugs out and the motor will turn over fine but when I put them back in the motor wont turn over anymore I have hooked jumper cables directly to the starter and still have the same problem. I am lost on what to do next should I try to have the starter rebuilt or could something be wrong inside the motor? Thanks in advance
