500 year - and starter trouble

hi!<br />Two questions: <br /> - I´ve got a Merc 500 Thunderbolt (4 cyl), serial number 9157192. What year? One list says 1977, but other lists won´t even mention this serial. This 500 was exported to Europe.<br /><br />There´s an image at dragefjellet.no/rana/<br /><br />-the starter is not to good. Cranking slowly. The workshops advice is either to rebulid the starter ... or to buy a new at ca 500 E... <br />But will the starter from a 2 cyl 40 hp (approx same year) fit? The spares engine and the 500 is at two different places, so I need some advice before I start a two hour drive ... <br /><br />thanks <br />jan
