my 50 hp starts great and idles fine and will run to max rpms for a while then it will just shut off while running. It will start up fine and will go to 1600rpm or so then when i try to put the throttle foward it will bog down and die. Its weird cause some time it will run for 10 mins or longer then it will die. Other times it will only run for a few minutes and wont go over the rpms. Just wondering what might be doing this. Thanks!

Check your fuel tank vent and be sure its not plugged. Also check all your fuel lines and especially the primer bulb. All should be soft and pliable. If all that is good, rebuild your fuel pump. A good indication that your vent is plugged is your primer bulb will collapse some.

Had a similar problem last year. Is it a 3cyl? A chunky floating around in one of the carb bowls will do this. If it ain't electric, you probably need to R&R the carbs.

It could be the high speed winding in the stator, if you are losing spark above 1500/2000

im going to change the plugs and try to take out the carbs to clean them and see if that is it. If not then i will take it in to get it serviced.
