Jiffyboats post earlier explains the procedure on how to test these. Let us know what you find.

I think I wasn't paying attention when swapping the plug wires around, but I believe it is the coil. When I swap the CDI wires that go to each coil pack I get spark each time from the one coil pack. The other coil pack I get nothing. Now the trouble is finding a place on the weekend that would have one of these.

As JerryJerry always says, "Profile" you may be close to someone that can help :) Look at it this way, at least you found the issue. Now, just let us know where abouts you live and we can put the word out, you may get lucky.

Re: 50hp force no spark top cylinder

I decided to try getting the flywheel off one more time before I went with replacing the coil since they want $110 new. I found that one wire set from the trigger doesn't seem to be working. If I swap the trigger wire pairs, I was getting spark on the other coil. I got the flywheel off and noticed the magnet was loose at the split. Can this affect trigger coil operation or would that only affect the stator output? I'm not seeing any burned wires under there.

Yes your loose magnet is a ticking time bomb, or already causing issues. If the trigger does indeed test bad then???? Replace. I would fix the magnet, clean, mend any wires that need it, and test. However, you said the trigger is malfunctioning, so replace it. The new coil price is outrageous!!! Profile... I know there are folks out there with good used units for WAY less that could be minutes from you.

Re: 50hp force no spark top cylinder

I have the magnet reglued and drying. When I tested the trigger with my ohm meter I was getting the same reading on both sets of wires. The only time I can get it to fire is when I have the red and white wires connected though, if I remove the red and white wires and leave the other pair connected it won't fire. So I'm guessing that is going to mean the trigger is bad. I don't have the DVA tester to look for the readings in the troubleshooting post from earlier. It also seemed like the magnets on the inside of the flywheel that are for the trigger seemed to be weaker on one magnet than the other when touching a screwdriver on each one. It may have just been me thinking it felt different. I haven't found anywhere to get those replacement magnets though, so I think I will try a used trigger first. Found one for $20 on ebay as I have given up getting it going for this weekend.

Hey I have a 50 force as well and i was wondering as you stated it is only running off one cylinder.. Are you leaving the other plug out when u get it to run? I am troubleshooting the same thign on my motor but mine is a 86.. I can get it to fire right up and run decent but only with top plug out.. Just curiouse if yours is the same?
