5200 / aluminum

Ive just purchased a 18' starcraft, and filled her up with water yesterday to check for leaks. Ive got a small one from corrosion and a couple from rivet repair gone wrong,and a third from sealant failure at the keel. My thoughts were to plate the corrosion with 1/16, repair the rivets with machine bolts and run a new bead of sealant along the keel. I will be using 5200 for all the repairs and was wondering if, for adhesion, at what stage would it be best to apply. Bare, zinc chromate primer or finish primer? Thank you.

i am embarrased mike. i cannot remember your last name to look up # in book. post last 4 here or i will find it in the puter monday. if you are going to trailer that boat ss machine scews are easier for one person to do than rivets. all that copper bottom paint needs to go. fast set 4200 or 5200 should seal things. bare metal as clean as you can reasonably get it. i would use 1/8" for patching.

7972. I think I am going to leave her in the water untill she sinks. I'm just hoping that my repair wont be the cause. I will start the repairs today (mon) and start paint on sat.

been busy. will call after work. if you are not at work today call me at work. i have quite a bit of aluminum peices laying around that would make good patch material.
