5200 and Fuel

Does 5200 stand up to fuel? I broke the drain screw on the carb of my Yamaha 25 Hp 4-stroke and want to plug it with 5200 until I can get the proper replacement parts... Will it work for a couple weeks?

If 5200 won't work, any suggestions on what will? Again, this will only be temporary until the proper parts/funds are available.

So you plug it with 5200 -- how do you intend to get it out? Buy a metric screw at any hardware store.

Actually, the head snapped off the threads and the threads are still in there... Wasn't planning on taking the 5200/whatever out, planning on replacing the entire float bowl and use a new drain plug... Just trying to find a temp fix so I can keep boating until parts arrive...

If you aren't planning on pulling this apart, you might try JB weld or fuel tank patch putty.

I had already thought of JB Weld but I don't have any handy right now. I do have some 5200 thus the question...

I guess I'll make a trip and get some JB Weld tomorrow.

NOPE, it will degrade and you'll be chasing 5200 for weeks.

5200 is fine for sealing things but fuel contact is a gamble.
