Have a 55hp 1974 model 558HD with no spark. The magnapower unit has a live feed and a earth, should there be a live feed out of the magna power unit? The motor spins over no problem any suggestions on how to test this unit most welcome or if there is a common electrical fault with these motors?

When you test for spark are you pulling the plugs and then grounding the threads to the motor ground? Also the test should be in a dark area to see the spark. If you dont ground the spark plug you will not see a spark.

Re: 55hp Chrysler no spark

Chances are that if you have no spark to either unit that the coils are probably okay. I would suspect the cd unit has failed. The brown and brown/white wires should be the power going into the cd unit and white and gray wires should be the output from the cd. I hope someone will chime in here that has better experience doing electrical troubleshooting. I believe you need a DVA tester to test the CD unit.
