have a 1958 Johnson Seahorse 5.5 HP - model CD-15 that I am going to get running again.

the original gas tank is very rusty inside and out. can I use a new plastic tank with the type of air mix feed that motor uses?
No. You'll have to use the dbl line tank. They show up on ebay on occasion or you can scout around the local marina's for one. Simply put, the engine pressurizes the gas tank and forces fuel up to the carb. If you can clean out the tank, parts for the tank pump and gaskets can still be gotten from John/Rude dealers as well as double fuel line.

Or convert the engine to a fuel pump system.....LOL.....didn't put that in the original answer until after I saw your last post........
Thanks for the response...

Since I was going to re-build the carb anyway, I decided to add a fuel pump and go to a non-pressurized system.

Has anybody had problems making this conversion?
