I need help guys.
Got a 59' Johnson Seahorse 18HP. Model FD-13R
I just took the coils off and noticed one of the Plug wires is funky.
To replace this I need to remove the base the coils are mounted to. If you can Help I can get back to fishing.
Plug wires in rough shape and very hard to get to without removing base they are attached to. Thanks Fellow Boaters

Re: 59 johnson electrical

There are four screws that hold the armature plate to the motor. They are set up in a rectangular pattern. If you've removed one of the coils, then you've already found one of the screws - the long one. Second is in same place on other coil. 3 & 4 are down low, near the points. Also, disconnect the throttle arm by removing the stainless steel clip that attaches it to the brass arm on the armature plate.
- Scott
