I have a 6 hp suzuki (86) that I have just changed all the seals on, for the second time in its life. However this time when I tried to put it back togethet
I cannot get the gears to mesh properly. I can get forward and neutral or reverse and neutral but I can"t get it to work thru all the gears. If I set the gear case in what should be reverse (the lower end is on my work bench when I am doing this) and then install the prop all I get is neutral and If I pull the shifting rod up, I will get forward. On the end of the prop shaft that goes in to the gear case ther is a 1 inch removable rod that sits inside of the shaft that rest against a spring, this is what rides on the shifter mech. When the shifter Mechanism is pulled all the way up the rod sits at the most compressed point that it can and this is where reverse should be, but it seems not to be enough to engage reverse but only neutral. All I did was change all the seals (second time in its life, with no problem the first time) and this time I have this problem with gears. Any help would GREATLY APPRECIATED
