6 HP evinrude Year

I found additional numbers on the freeze plug of my engine. 6002B and E05471. Attached are pictures of the cowling and mount showing it is an evinrude 6HP even though the model number , CD 17, is for a Johnson 5.5. The engine does not look like it is 53 years old. I am trying to make sure I order the correct repair manual.

6002 model # shows up as a 1970.

Looks like someone has bolted-up the 1970 6hp powerhead & cowlings to the 5.5hp chassis!

It should still work alright, since the 6hp was based on the 5.5 hp anyway.

However, if you need any parts for the lower half, you'll need to look 'em up using the older model #.
