I have an early 70's 6 hp Johnson that won't start. I replaced the gaskets, plug wires, plugs,
condensors, and rebuilt the carb. I get good spark on both plugs and fuel to the carb, but no
fuel gets to the combustion chamber. The compression is 40 psi on both cylinders. When I squirted
30 weight oil into the spark plug hole the compression jumped to 60 psi. Could I have set the
point gap wrong? Is the compression too low? Should I replace the rings? I cleaned the leaf valves
and they look ok but possibly they need replacing. Any ideas?
