hi all long time no speak.
can anyone give me a rough guide on how to adjust the mixture on my carbs please.it is a 3 cylinder outboard which is starting ok but when i have it running in a tank the smell of the smoke is of neat fuel and its so strong it stings your eyes.the plugs are looking a bit black but not to excess.i was thinking about winding the mixture screws in and taking them out about 21/2 turns is this about right and should all 3 carbs be set the same as i gather number 2 carb will run hotter as its sandwiched between 1 and 3.not sure of the year of the motor as there is no id plate anywhere but i think its about 1985.
many thanks.

Any final fuel mix screw adjustments to your engine should be performed in water with engine mounted on boat following a test run..A good beginning setting for each mix screw ,assuming the engine is a 1985 model 3 cylinder 60 would be to lightly seat clockwise and back each off 2 turns.Only a water test in gear under load can determine whether any finer adjustment is necessary.
