Roger that, Joe. It's been a long time since I chased the electrical gremlins on that motor. Sorry for any confusion I may have created for the OP. I think I will shut-up and let the experts drive this thread.

You're more than welcome to continue on my friend... you should see some of the misquotes I enter from time to time. It happens to all of us.

It was indeed the switch on the distributor.... so glad you told me about that or I would STILL be driving myself crazy.

Put the boat in the water today, and it floats! Gadzooks!

However, it seems to be charging intermittently. Is there a threshold for the voltage regulator to kick on and off? That would make sense, but if not, I suspect that I overlooked a loose connection or something. What do you think?

I'll post a pic for you guys tomorrow.... for a $500 boat, she looks pretty good in the water!

The charging system is solid state excepting for possibly the voltage regulator. My line of thought is that the regulator is the only component that could cut in and out. Always possible that a wire could be broken within its insulation setting up a rapid make/break scenario... but my money would be on the regulator.

The factory regulator is adjustable. If a 3rd party regulator is used, I have no idea if it would be adjustable or not. I can't pull the method from memory but it is easy to comprehend within the OMC factory manual.

Good call Joe.... I played around with the adjustment screw on the regulator and got it to stay in the 13.8 volts range. Working like a charm!

Here's a few pictures, thanks for the help!
