Thanks Fishy55. As fate would have it, I'm having all the same problems you are with my '61 QD-22 10hp (same basic motor). The motor runs great in a test tank and shifts into/out of gear easily, yet doesn't really "lock" into place as solidly as it seems like it should. I've replaced the clutch dog and that didn't fix it. I've also adjusted and readjusted the shift linkage and I'm 99% sure that's good to go, so I guess I'm looking at a possible spun prop too? Were there any telltale signs that your old prop was bad (i.e. wiggly bits, broken shear pin or any obvious wear and tear), or did you just determine it by process of elimination?
