Hey guys newbie here:D

I have 2 questions.

does the length of your gas hose effect the performance of your motor?
i have a 12' hose on mine and the motor bogs down and reves up at full throtle. It had a 4' hose on it but i couldn't plain out in my 14' tinner.

And my motor was over heating after trolling for 1/2 hour or so, so i wanted to get a cooler plug. It had J8c in it so i bought some J6c's and J4c's which do you think is the better plug for trolling and general running?

Thanks Mac

Proper plug for general use is Champion J4C, gapped at .030.

12' hose should be OK unless that 12 feet is straight down under the motor.

The spark plugs did not cause overheating at trolling!! If it is overheating you have cooling problems. Probably needs a complete new water pump kit. Just putting a new impeller in a worn housing won't help. When you put the new kit in, don't forget to transfer the seal on the top of the housing to the new one. It won't run with the hood on if you leave that out.

impeller kit. and keep in the fuel line level helps with the flow, that way the pump doesn't have to drag it up from the floor. if you can route it around the gunnel lever helped mine.

It has a thermostat. Under the cover on top of the cylinder head. Put it in hot water to test it. But if you are overheating at only slow speeds the 'stat probably isn't the problem either. Always look for the most likely problem first.....worn out water pump. THEN, if it still overheats you can look for something more exotic.
