Steve
Your seeing a picture of my shop after I blew it out with my leaf blower wearing my PPE of course ! Believe me it was a mess after all the sanding and fairing. I just tied the tarp up at the doorway and let her rip.I will lightly wet sand the valspar oil based metal primer. I will be spraying with hvlp gun valspar tractor/implement enamel paint with enamel hardener added.Yep the more light the better! You can take a shop light and shine it down the sides of the hull to see the bad spots but you know there hard to see until ya git a coat of primer or paint on it!

Thanks Jon, I gotta catch up with ya ! Looks like your gettin ready for your splash!

Very Nice!! Looks like new. Maybe better!

Couple a Questions ...

What is your paint and primer? Did you use a "hardener" product? What Thinner?

Was there a lot of overspray? What are you expecting as drying time?

How much paint did you use for this first coat? Will you be sanding this coat? What grit?

Thanks! I'm sure everyone will be interested in your technique.

Sometimes I almost think that white is the only appropriate hull color...

Thanks Steve, this is the primer , paint ,and hardener I used It took 3 cups paint ,1 1/8 cup 50/50 acetone and spirits, and 1.5 oz of the hardener. Mixed for 30 min. Compressor set at around 95 psi and around 37 at the hvlp gun.

4 to 6 hours till next coat . This is coat #3 .I may shoot 1 more coat. I willlook at it tomorrow in the sun and decide on next coat.
I wet sanded with a scotch brite pad .000 grit.

I was going to ask you how the Scotch Brite pad worked but I can see it worked very well. Great job.

Re: 64 Edinboro custom learn somthing new every day

Thanks for the info!

Looks absolutely fabulous!. The rest of us can only hope to do as well! Like to old "A-Team" guy always said, "It's great when a plan comes together!"

How long do you plan to wait for drying before turning it over?

Looks like the overspray issue wasn't too bad. You have some nice lighting set up ... I'm sure that helps!

I'm now scheming how I can get mine inside to paint. Lows here are in the 30s and highs in the afternoon around 60. Trouble is it has been too windy to paint. When it's calm in the morning it's just too cold.

Until mine is painted and flipped I cant get much else done!

Re: 64 Edinboro custom learn somthing new every day

I'm curious ... what size/weight engine are you planning to use? With the engine an 2 potential passengers so far to the rear, are you concerned at all about being "stern heavy"? Maybe your stern is much more buoyant than my Oxford. I could never get away with that much weight in the rear. My boat would quickly turn into a submarine!

Like the seat work. That should look cool when upholstered!

Your deck gelcoat color looks almost the same as the paint I used. It's a great color. I'm jealous of your fiberglass floor! Great for clean-up!

Re: 64 Edinboro custom learn somthing new every day

This is the O/B that's going on . The boat is rated for an 85 so it will be maxed out LOL . Most all the wood in the fab is 1/4" cept for the front apron . Thats 3/4. I would like totry and move some weight under the bow to offset some stearn weight. If this motor seems to much I can always put the 70 chrysler back on if I can get it running..

Hey Sp

Nice workmanship! It's obvious that you know how to use the tools :D Do I see drywall screws there? Nay, Nay my friend, They just don't have the tensile strength you need. Too brittle. A good galvie exterior screw or a deck screw would be much better! ;)
