OK bud here's your boat. Its a 14 foot Siren. Manufactured in 1965 and discontinued from production in 1966 so it was either left over from the previous year or someone didnt title it until 66.

Hope this helps!!!

Good CSI job NB, ya knows your Starcrafts.

Cool little boat, and it's got the deeper transom than the Arrow. More hp and weight allowance.

Re: '66 Starcraft, My first boat!

Thanks North Beach! that's what I was looking for!

Got her in the water the other day. she wanted to cruise but the gas can fitting started leaking and the engine kept wanting to die. Picked up a new gas can and hose fitting today and we'll try again next weekend.

So I've got a few more questions:

1 - There is nothing written on the boat and the previous owner never mentioned a name for the boat. do I dare give it a name, or should it remain "nameless"

2 - Is this a boat one should restore or when I fix it up could I have a little fun with it?

if its safe to use do it. wait till winter if you have a work spot to do the main work. You do not want to remove much f-glass if not needed. The photos show a fairly solid looking boat.

I think the bad luck rule only applies to a previously named boat, so you're fine to name it.

If what you're asking is would it be some sort of travesty to make alterations to that boat like it's a rare classic or something? If so, I'd say now. As cool looking as it is, 50s-60s closed bow runabouts are a dime a dozen. Have at it!!

Toast, i see boats like that being GIVEN away all the time on a "just get it out of my yard to get the wife or HOA off my back" basis if they don't have a motor. i'm with EZ.....saw away.

Congrats - that's a beauty!! I'm also out looking for my first boat myself and Starcraft seems to be the way to go.

Jon, read back a few pages on the "starcraft on Clist" thread.....you'll get a great education on common issues on these and things Starheads look for when buying one. hard to go wrong with a 14 or 16' SC even for a novice if you go into it with eyes open.

Cool thanks. I'm not going to cut into it, it's just that the gell coat needs some work but as much as the baby blue and chrome fits the boat, it doesn't fit me. I'd like to do a multi colored paint job that would work with the name I give it. Still need to spend more time with her on the water before I lock down a name. The gears are turning in my head though.

Look at West Marine site for gelcoat-resto products. you can prolly also find some folks with experience with various products of this nature over at Fiberglassics.com, site devoted to old glassers, mostly with tailfins.....some real aquatic Batmobiles there:D

I know why you guys get into boats, as I am now into them, this little fiberglass tub is a blast! I know what everyone means about the headaches they cause as well now. :p

The first time I got to put it in the water.

The fuel fitting started to leak and the line wouldn't hold pressure so my Dad sat in the back and pumped the tank to get us to shore.

So I ordered some more parts and we took it out again on Monday! Much more fun this time!

Feel free to send those findings my way :) I'd love to have a hull like that. Baby blue not exactly my color either, but it does make total sense for that boat - such a classic look.

OP: Congrats again - glad to see that you have it out on the water already!
