hello, the problem is that when i run my motor at half throttle or so it cools down fine,(i also took out the thermostat to figure out a previous overheating problem). but when i go to full throttle it will get very hot very fast, a minute or so, if i back her down she cools right down. i did replace the impeller and i'm not sure why it would work fine, pump water, and then not at higher rpm. any insight would be great thanks

Better start out with a model number or something so we know what you are working on. There was no such thing as a 1967 55hp.

It is a '68. You may have missed when installing both water tubes. Did they have the plastic guides on the water pump housing to help align them? did you put in a complete factory water pump kit or just the impeller?

i just put in the impeller, and yes there were 2 short plastic connectors for the tubes.
