Run with a timing light hooked up to the top cylinder.---See if the light flashes steady when fault occurs.--------Then test again on the bottom cylinder.

i would just go buy an open air spark tester for ten bucks. ( not the type with the neon light in it!)

Ok, I just got messing with idle screw and it appears the resistance that I thought was seated was false,I turned it about 5 turns to get it seated then backed off 1.5 turns and adjusted to good idle while running. It's an idle screw but was loose, could that have been high end issue too? By the way, has good throttle response now too

my 6 hp evinrude was stolen about a month ago, just bought a 1991 9.9 evinrude to replace it. whole new set of problems. ran great out the gate but after wot for a couple minutes then trolling its fighting to get back up. I took it back to the guy and he put his instruments on it and said everything was where it should be. I was so aggravated. Another marina said its high speed jet at first but I told hime it runs at high speed at first and then he said it was the coil. Buy another coil and try it or is there a way to test coil first, after I gets warmed up could coil effect performance? thanks in advance
