I have a 1969 6hp Johnson. It starts find and runs for a while before it stalls out. To keep it running I need to apply pressure about every 30 seconds to the fuel tank bulb. I know the fuel tank works as I use it on other Johnson motors with no problems. Is this a fuel pump problem?

sounds like it.... possibly busted diaphragm , dirty fuel pump inlet screen, dirty carb etc...

after starting it, lift the tank above the motor to gravity feed the motor ..if it works better time to inspect the pump

if still dies... "follow the fuel" ...check pump output while it does run by unplugging the fuel output to the carb if ok...clean the carb

Make sure the tank vent is open and UNCLOGGED (open the cap to see if it helps normal operation. If yes..probably a clogged vent)
