Motor starts then stalls wont stay running without high throttle can feel a bit of blow back out carb and hear a air leak when I shut engine off. inspected reeds and found fuel line innertube stuck in them cleaned them and reinstalled still getting blow back they look Mint condition no light coming though but not sure how old or if there original they may still be worn have to reinspect. Lots of smoke and can keep it running when I let a bit of air in by opening choke slightlly manually its seams to be stuck closed it wont idle just stalls any ideas would be helpful 120 approx compression on all three cylinders, points are set and look good the shaft contact side may be worn a little to far not sure on spec. changed all fuel lines and new fuel pump and only have rubber fuel lines (not sure were plastic came from dont have any on boat previous owner must have had it hooked up.) Carbs rebuilt and working properly there filling and stopping when full ,new plugs

What do you mean choke seems to be stuck closed ?----In what position is the manual control for choke.----Off / automatic / off.-----Is the thermo-electric choke feature still in service ??------How many turns out are the slow speed mixture screws ?

When the key is turned the choke is on unless I select off with the lever. automatic or on it's on or if I turn the key off its off .there is a switch for it I disconnected it by the steering wheel for manual operation choke doesn't want to turn off it seems. .5/8 turn for slow speed screws and there picky wont start if there off a little. not sure on the thermo electric I may have that. there is a wire single running in to the block back to front dash originally brown from motor above the coil 21

Just found bad connection coming from sensor and power pack(purple wire) to front dash and to choke I'll fix that . The one going to the front is taped into the sensor wire not sure what up with that . Think it goes to monkey ball up front or key

Could the sensor kill a cylinder or two if not in spec? Or loose connection only couple stands holding on .gas is coming out exhaust lots of white smoke seems down a cylinder when its running and other times it good.

When wired correctly, and manual choke in Automatic position, the choke will partially close when you turn the key on. This assumes the motor is cold. Operating the choke switch at the dash will completely close the choke.

The factory manual would show where to clamp the solenoid for correct operation.------You do have a thermostat installed I hope.----Have you checked it for proper operation ?

Switch out the thermostat, and find a trashcan big enough to hold the lower unit. Fill with water about half way up the leg and see if it will warm up and idle. You can't do much testing or tuning using muffs.
