6hp Suzuki DT6 conks out!

My fabulous little beach launch tinny with the Suzy on the back (picture: http://www.bbbalc.com/Home/files/HomePagePhoto_Large.jpg) let me down yesterday. Over 1km offshore and the motor simply died. Could not restart and couldn't figure any problems as had new fuel and recently serviced. This motor is an 05 model with about 40 hours. Rowed back to the beach and gave it another go and it fires first time! What the?

Q1: Does this motor get hot and auto cut out?
Q2: What could be wrong?
Q3: What should I look for it happens again?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Make sure your fuel tank cap's ventilation screw is open for enough ventilation ... these motors won't overheat easily as people use them for trolling for hours and hours without them overheating .....

Thanks DJC. I'll have a look when back at home. I thought it was OK but this was the 1st run since a service and the mechanic may have tightened the screw.
