I'm in need of a carb kit for a 7.5 Gamefisher 2 cycle outboard, for some reason the thing before starting wants to continually dump fuel for some reason?. Took apart carb and noticed that orange rubber colored part has a small tear in it. Anyone know if i can get a carb kit

That rubber thing is the fuel pump element. It's got to be whole for the engine to run. Replacements are easy to find, and you can even order one on the sears parts site, www.searspartsdirect.com by putting in your model number and looking at the parts list for the carburetor.

You can find other parts there, too, or at the sources above.

Buying parts from Sears is a convenience deal, really. You can look at the exploded views and parts diagrams, along with the parts lists, and can order directly.

Prices are higher than at other sellers. You're right. But, time is also money.

Here's how I see it. Sears is good enough to provide the parts diagrams we all use for their outboards, even though they quit selling outboards a very long time ago. I support them for that reason. If prices are outrageously higher, I wouldn't buy from them, but if nobody buys parts from them, those parts diagrams are going to disappear.

You'll notice that I give several sources for parts when I write about these outboards. Sears is just one of them. It's a valuable resource. Different folks make different decisions.

So when you say that the orange thing needs to be whole, does that mean that there is no small tear that looks like it was made with a machine. It is such a clean cut.

Correct. The only opening in that pump element is on the end. Yours has split and is defunct. Get a new one.

CAT is right, replace the fuel pump element.

FYI, when you insert the fuel pump element into the block it needs to be "clocked" properly, so it will pump. I can't remember where it needs to be positioned, but only that it needs to oriented correctly, so it will pump.

Hopefully, one of the other guys knows how it needs to be clocked.

Re: 7.5 HP gamefisher

It's installed with the slot at 2 and 8 o'clock, or the top of the slot 45 degrees to the right. If it's not installed at the right angle, it won't pump.

It's a weak fuel pump, at best. When running the engine in a barrel, you need to put the fuel tank on something. The pump won't draw more than a couple of feet, if that. Long fuel hoses aren't good, either. Basically, the system just isn't the greatest.

Buying parts from Sears is a convenience deal,
I do buy from sears but, I don't see any convenience unless they have it in the store, my motivation is to save a man a buck$$ and offer my experience and if any one needs a copy of the Tecumseh carb repair manual its free and available online from many small lawn mower websites or I will gladly e-mail it to anyone who ask for it,
No disrespect intended CATransplant.

Have a nice day:)
