I have the above listed engine and it will not start unless I put the primer lever to manual. It has the required voltage when cranking. Also there are 3 positions, normal, manual and what is the 3rd position for? Any ideas people? P.S. in the man, position it starts right up.

passages plugged up in carb or prime start system would be my guess.

the other position is the off position, at least it is on My C40

Primestart is either "off","on" or "normal"...... Normal is fully automatic, so if you're having to put it in the on position then there's a problem with the unit....Primestart works very similar to a thermostat in that a wax pellet expands with heat, opening and closing the circuit....
