The compression should only have only a 10% Max in difference.
Yes the car compression tester would work for your OB.

If they worked on your gasket and it didn't help then I don't know what to tell you ....
You have a bad motor..Sorry

That's not what I wanted to hear! Oh well, I got the boat for a good price. Perhaps that's why... I suppose I could eventually sell it for parts and get something else. :(

I hope you're wrong.

Whoa, don't give up on it yet.

If the compression reading was before the gasket job, no problem. If it was after, seems like they would have discussed your options. I wonder they didn't test it afterwards.

You said you had a couple good days with it, so your problems now are either unrelated, or the gasket repair failed for some reason -- you'll know soon enough.

Keep us posted.

Yeah I really hope I'm wrong to!
You really need to do the compression test to make sure you have low copression in the third cylinder.
I'm just basing it on the info given to me.
I hope that the test they did was before the head gasket repair.
Best of Luck!

I am pretty sure that that the compression report on my receipt was post-repair. I am going to do the test after I watch France vs. Uraguay in the World cup! And to clarify, the motor ran very well right after the repair on two seperate excursions. Then, it ran well on the third outing but bogged down after I had stopped the motor then started it up again. It still started and idled VERY WELL.

by the way, my tanks are "self-venting" according to my mechanic. He said if there was a lack of air, the bulb would be compressed.

Should I buy a new fuel line or wait and if so, must it be an OMC original or can I buy the after-market hose?

he's right the bulb gets sucked flat if there's no vent. "self-venting"...wonder what that means...oh well.

The after market stuff from walmarts is ok, except the primer bulbs have a reputation for unreliability. But if it's holding pressure, then it works.
